Our team of highly skilled advisors offer a free helpline, and will answer absolutely any questions you may have. Whether it be uncertainty about which tariff is the best option for you or simply questions over the process itself we’ll do all we can to help and re-assure. We also offer an expert call centre service, or your confident enough, you can even do it yourself using our online comparison tool.

Everyone should check they’re on the best deal

Switching supplier is a fundamental step that all UK housholds should be taking in the battle against rising fuel costs. It takes a matter of just a few minutes and we will guide you through each element of the process. What is more, we will complete the entire application and all the paperwork for you.

We compare both gas and electricity for you

The Switching Helpline compares prices for both gas and electricity – you can switch one or both of your suppliers with us, and we can help you find the best deal if you only have electricity. We’ll help you work out the best option for your needs.

What you’ll need to have ready when you contact us:

  • your full postcode
  • knowledge of who your current supplier is and your tatriff (your supplier can tell you if you are not sure)

If you are unsure of your current electricity supplier you can call your local electricity distribution company. You can see a list of their contact numbers by clicking here.

Having your latest bill will allow you to give us the most accurate information about your energy usage, but don’t worry if you don’t have one handy – we can work out your usage by asking you a few extra questions about your home.

Step 1: Tell us your postcode

Tell us your postcode. Gas and electricity prices are charged based on which of the 14 pricing regions that you live in.

Step 2: Tell us about your current suppliers and energy use

We hold pricing information for every plan currently on the market. We need to know who currently supplies you with electricity and/or gas to issue you with an accurate comparison against all available tariffs from all suppliers. We’ll also need to know what your current tariff is. Your current supplier will be able to advise you on which tariff you are on if you aren’t sure. If you have never switched, it is more than likely that you will be on your supplier’s standard tariff – these are usually amongst the most expensive on offer.

Step 3: Tell us what you want

Tell us how you want to pay and what type of energy plan you’re looking for. This will help us find the right plans for you.

Step 4: See a list of suppliers and pick a plan.

Based on the information you’ve given us, we’ll show you a list of all suppliers and the savings you can make with The Switching Helpline against each one, as well as the various features associated with each. We can help you pick the best plan for your needs. Our trained experts can explain how each one works and any features associated if you are in any doubt.

Step 5: Making the switch

Once you have decided on the right plan for you, and decided to switch to your chosen supplier we’ll just need a few details including your name and address, and we’ll process the application for you . This takes a matter of minutes, and we’ll confirm every detail of your application before finally confirming your switch with you.

We’ll send your application to your new energy supplier who will let your old supplier know you’re switching and set up your new account. It’s simply a case of paying your final bill to your old supplier and taking a final meter reading to give to your old and new suppliers on the transfer date – you will be notified of this by your new supplier. It will take no longer the 4-6 weeks to transfer your supply. It really is as simple as that.
